The African Youth Climate Action Network (AYCAN) is a youth-led initiative working to connect, empower and mobilize young Africans to take meaningful action for climate change, environmental protection and sustainable development.
The African Youth Climate Action Network (AYCAN) is a growing youth-led initiative created to provide a platform for young people to participate meaningfully in climate and environmental action.
We believe that young Africans are not only among those who will experience the future impacts of today's environmental challenges—they can also be part of developing the ideas, actions and leadership needed to shape a more sustainable future.
AYCAN brings together young people from different backgrounds, including students, young professionals, researchers, environmental advocates, innovators and community members.
Through education, collaboration, research, advocacy, innovation and community-based action, we aim to create opportunities for young people to learn, contribute and lead.
Climate change is not only a global issue. Its effects are experienced within communities through changing weather patterns, flooding, environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, waste challenges, pressure on natural resources and other environmental concerns.
AYCAN was created with a simple belief:
Young people should have the knowledge, opportunity and platform to do more than talk about these challenges. They should have opportunities to act.
We seek to create a space where young Africans can learn about environmental challenges, share ideas, collaborate with others, conduct research and contribute to practical actions within their communities.
